Canoeing & Kayaking

Learn the skills of Paddlesports in the sheltered waters of Keyhaven Harbour.  It is a great place to learn to control a kayak or canoe. Our experienced coaches will introduce you to the thrill and freedom of being afloat while looking a/er your safety as you learn the basic strokes. Lessons are from 1 hour to a full day and provides an introduction to the sport. All specialist equipment provided.


British Canoeing Courses

Paddlesports Start

British Canoeing Paddlesports Start Award. A fun 2 hour introduction or Canoeing. Paddlesport Start is an encouragement award designed to provided a framework for a paddler’s first session.

 £40 pp.

British Canoeing 1 Star award

The British Canoeing 1 Star Award is a sheltered water award which can be taken in any craft.

It is designed to recognise the level people would typically reach after an introductory course of six hours quality water time.


British Canoeing 2 Star award

Our 2 Star Award is an improvement award which supports the development of fundamental paddlesport skills on sheltered water.

It recognises a paddler’s understanding of how the paddle, boat and water interact and their ability to control movement of both canoes and kayaks using fundamental skills.

Paddlesports Expedition

An expedition to Henry VIII's Hurst Castle at the western End of the Solent.  This trip is suitable for those who are working towards or completed their Paddlesports 1 Star Award.  Participants must be able to paddle confidently.  The round trip is 3 miles and includes a visit to the castle if open.  The trip avoids open sea areas and starts at Keyhaven.  The trip is included in the British Canoeing 2 star Award above. Duration is 3/4hrs £10 pp
